Our Aims

Our aims are centred on helping to give coastal wildlife and habitats a better chance to survive, and even to flourish. The benefits of doing this are strongly supported on both scientific and moral grounds. To meet our aims, we have three, clearly defined projects, designed to be realistic, achievable and impactful.

On these pages, you can learn more about these projects and how you can be a part of our work.

Surveying and restoration of seagrass

seagrass

Seagrass oxygenates the water and contributes to combating climate change by storing carbon on the seafloor. Since the 1930s, seagrass meadows have shrunk by 92% in UK waters. We want to be part of a national effort to reverse this trend.

Research and cleaning of coastal areas

beach cleaning

Litter in our oceans and on our beaches can have a devastating impact on wildlife. In recent surveys, Scotland had the highest volume of marine litter in the UK. We are determined to improve this situation.

Outreach and marine education

Helping the local community and, in particular, the younger
generation, to understand the issues impacting on the health of our seas is an important part of our work.
